Henry Wallis

Backend engineer, building on AWS.

I build backend systems that hold up in production. From the first API call to the pipeline that ships it, and the alarm that tells you when something breaks.

Currently a senior software engineer at Centrica, connecting heat pumps from Daikin and Vaillant to the cloud. In the evenings I'm building misMATCH.

I care about software that is boring in the best way: well tested, easy to observe, and simple enough for the next person to pick up. Outside work, I run very long distances and I'm slowly learning ragtime piano.

A little background

I'm a backend engineer based in East Yorkshire, working mostly in Go and TypeScript on AWS. Day to day that means integrations, infrastructure and CI/CD: Lambdas, CodePipeline and CodeBuild, and the glue that keeps third-party devices and internal platforms in sync.

In the evenings I'm building misMATCH, a career matchmaking app with a Next.js front end and a Go backend on AWS, and sharing what I learn about money as HenryCompounds. This site is where I'll collect that work as it grows.
